Nearly nine months prior to February 2, 1979, life pulsates to the very vein of BERNIE S. BRONCANO. On this fateful date, he was born in Barangay Gamot, Polangui, Albay, a place nested with nature, teeming with innate euphony and keen to the rustle of the verdant leaves.

He was born not with a silver-spoon but with a back-breaking "hoe" sealed with love bequeathed by the spouses Carlos and Dolores. Since then, Bernie evolved from childhood to be a responsive and responsible man who faces challenges with alacrity and ease. Eventually, he became an inch-of-the-man whom Edwin Markham characterized in his poem, as the "Man with a Hoe",  thus:

"Bowed by the weight of centuries he leans

Upon his hoe and gazes on the ground,

The emptiness of ages in his face,

And on his back the burden of the world."
