Hon. Edna R. Siguenza is a dedicated government leader, a God-fearing woman, and a compassionate advocate of the poor. For her, there is no greater fulfillment than serving the people and uplifting the community. She firmly believes that government service is not merely about authority, but about dedication, sacrifice, and responsibility, especially when one knows that much must be done.
Before entering politics, she lived a simple life as an employee of the Population Commission (POPCOM), serving as Population Program Officer I (PPO I). Her early work instilled in her the values of family planning, pregnant women, and community development principles that guided her throughout her public career.
Her formal journey in politics began in 2007, when she was elected as Barangay Kagawad of Centro Oriental, Polangui, Albay. Guided by her passion for service, she earned the people’s trust and was elected as Municipal Councilor in 2010, serving multiple terms: 2010–2013, 2013–2016, 2016–2019, and 2022–2025.
Throughout her tenure, Hon. Siguenza is best known as a staunch advocate for women empowerment and social justice. She has chaired significant committees, previously leading the Committee on Senior Citizens, Solo Parents, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), Women, Family, and Gender and Development (GAD).
Notable measures she championed include the adoption of Provincial Ordinance No. 0065-2021, which prohibits discrimination in Albay on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression; the approval of the Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women; and the expression of support for House Bill No. 1314, “An Act Rationalizing the Benefits and Privileges of Senior Citizens and Persons with Disabilities.” These, together with numerous other resolutions and ordinances, stand as proof of her enduring dedication to the welfare of her constituents.
Beyond her legislative service, Hon. Siguenza’s life and passion revolve around her love for family, her support for community values, and her belief that society flourishes when families are strengthened.
With more than a decade of service in the Sangguniang Bayan, Hon. Edna R. Siguenza continues to embody the principles of fairness, accountability, and compassion. Her faith, dedication, and genuine concern for the people of Polangui remain at the core of her enduring legacy of public service.
